Two people injured when pyrotechnics went awry at a Beyonce Knowles concert in St. Louis received a surprise emergency room visit from the singer herself.
The accident happened Sunday night, just as the R&B star’s concert began. A spokeswoman for Scottrade Center did not return phone calls seeking comment, but broadcast reports said pyrotechnics meant for the stage accidently spilled into the front row.
Two concertgoers were taken to Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Spokeswoman Kathy Holleman would not release their names but said the injuries were minor. Both were expected to make full recoveries.
Soon after the concert, Knowles, 25, showed up unexpectedly, said Darryl Williams, head nurse at the hospital.
“She was just very concerned about the people injured in the audience, Williams said. “It was unannounced and we kept it very low-key so that she could spend time with them.
Knowles met with the fans for about 45 minutes.
“I just thought it was a great thing for someone of her stature to do,
Williams said.A spokesman for Houston-based Music World entertainment, which represents Knowles, declined comment.
Beyonce headlined the Essence Music Festival last night in New Orleans! So far, nothing has changed for the U.S. portion of the tour. In a puff of white smoke, the glamorous American singer ascended on to the stage of Cardiff International Arena to perform a string of hits for her adoring fans.
Dressed in a long, silver gown, with her hair billowing out behind her, she opened the show with her massive hit Crazy In Love.
Although the concert may not have been a sellout, the mainly young female audience loved every minute.
The former Destiny’s Child singer, renowned for such upbeat tracks as Crazy In Love, Deja Vu and the recent chart-topper Beautiful Liar, kicked off the mini tour in Birmingham.
The star gave a nod to her former band – and the Destiny’s Child fans in the crowd – by including a medley of their hits, including Bills, Bills, Bills. But last night the real reason they were at the CIA was to see her – and her alone.
We’ve added some more photos from Beyonce’s World Wide ‘Beyonce Experience’ Tour. Below you can view two sets of pictures- one from her Birmingham performance on June 1st, 2007 the other from her Wembley one.
