Sony Screen Gems’ suspense film “Obsessed” captivated the domestic boxoffice over its first weekend as the Beyonce Knowles-Idris Elba starrer proved more dominant than expected with an estimated $28.5 million.
Have YOU seen it yet?
On Friday, Obsessed attracted an estimated $11.1 million on approximately 3,000 screens at 2,514 sites, which points to a weekend in the vicinity of $30 million. That would be one of the biggest debuts ever for a Fatal Attraction-type picture or an erotic thriller. Obsessed’s opening day alone nearly matched the first weekend grosses of comparable titles Perfect Stranger and SwimFan.
Ever wanted to know what Beyoncé’s favorite YouTube video is? Well, now you do! Beyoncé was interviewed on the red carpet premiere of Obsessed on what her favorite YouTube video is. Watch the interview and her favorite video below!
The world premiere of Beyoncé’s newest movie Obsessed took place tonight! She looked absolutely gorgeous with a simple hairstyle and her little semi-dramatic dress. I love it when her style’s so simple! I’ve added 5 HQ photos of Bee at the premiere to Beyoncé Gallery! Enjoy!
Beyonce Knowles’ next film “Obsessed” will take the star in a more dramatic direction than any project in her previous body of work. No singing and dancing, just acting.
Although the film’s trailer hit the internet a few months back, I decided to revisit it after being reminded by friends that the sexy Idris Elba co-stars in the film. I’ll share my Elba encounter in a moment. (Talk about sexy chocolate!)
“Obsessed” tells the story of the successful career of asset manager Derek (Idris Elba), beautiful wife Beth (Beyonce) and their son. They are put in jeopardy when temp worker Lisa (Ali Larter) starts to stalk Derek.
Apparently there’s a lot of girl-on-girl fighting in the film.
”We did look at girl fights on YouTube,” says director Steve Shill of his research for the film. ”There’s a lot of hair pulling, shouting, and rolling around on the ground. We didn’t really want to do that.”
I plan on checking out this film because Idris Elba is an actor that makes my heart pitter-patter. A few months ago I was having a drink at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills with a few friends. When Idris walked in, I damn near broke my neck trying to ‘casually’ glance at him. (It was pretty funny.)
Here’s the first trailer for Beyoncé’s newest movie and first thriller: Obsessed! It also stars Ali Larter, from one of my favorite shows, Heroes. It looks great! Can’t wait to see more and can’t wait to see the movie! Also, there is currently one high quality still of the movie in the gallery, the 2nd one won’t add yet so I’m still trying to figure out why.
