December 13
Celebrities, News Articles

Rising star Justin Bieber has already stolen the hearts of tweens across the country, but the 15-year-old pop sensation reveals to OK! that Grammy winner BeyonceKnowles is the one who makes his own heart throb.

“My celebrity crush is Beyonce,” Bieber confesses to OK! after hitting the stage with the youngest ever American Idol winner Jordin Sparks at Z100’s Jingle Ball on Friday, “She’s amazing.”

The adorable pop artists even jokes about his new found infatuation telling reporters at Madison Square Gardenthat, “My favorite candy is Beyonce.”

But, given the large gap in age and the fact that Beyonce, 28, is happily married to rapper Jay Z, Justin may have to settle for someone closer in age.

Luckily, Bieber knows exactly what he wants in a woman when the time is right.

“I look for a girl who has a nice smile, and pretty eyes, and a girl that can make me laugh, because I love to laugh,” the singer, wearing a walking cast after tripping on stage a few weeks prior with Taylor Swift in London, opens up to reporters.

Justin, who sings about love in his new hit single “One Less Lonely Girl,” released his debut album My World with the help of R&B mentor, Usher, in November.

Lady Gaga On Beyonce: “She is a Real, Real Woman”

November 5

Lady Gaga and Beyoncé have apparently found a quite a kinship in one another and have become good friends quickly. While it might seem that the two superstars would be worlds apart it terms of image, sound and vibe, but at the end of the day there’s no question that they’re two of the hardest working women in pop music today.

And perhaps those personality traits made it easy for the two of them to bond and collaborate with one another. Since the 2009 Video Music Awards, where both women won awards, their paths have been crossing quite frequently — and they’ve worked together on two projects so far.

The first to appear will be Beyoncé’s clip for “Video Phone.” Not many details have emerged about the Hype Williams-helmed video, which was shot in Brooklyn, New York, last month.

The pair also collaborated on a new song, “Telephone,” that will appear on the forthcoming deluxe reissue of Gaga’s debut LP, dubbed The Fame Monster, which includes eight new songs and is slated for release on November 23 (Gaga’s Monster Ball Tour launches in Montreal four days later).

Gaga had nothing but praise for B when she sat down with MTV News for a long interview on Tuesday.

“You know she is such a beautiful person, and I gotta tell you, I just adore her,” she said. “I had kind of lost faith a little bit in meeting artists in the business — and then I met Beyoncé.”

She also spoke briefly about how much fun the two of them have together. “She is a real, real woman,” Gaga said. “I have never laughed so hard on a video set in my life. We had the best time doing ‘Video Phone.’ “

“Telephone” with GaGa Confirmed + Review

It has been confirmed that Beyonce will be appearing on Lady GaGa’s The Fame Monster releasing in November! She will be featured on the track Telephone which was produced by Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins. Here is a review done by PopJustice on ‘Telephone’:

‘Telephone’
Waffle: A song about being pestered by someone on the phone when you’re trying to have a dance in a nitespot. It’s a little bit like Gwen’s ‘What You Waiting For?’ meets Timbaland’s ‘The Way I Are’ meets about fifty other things. “I cannot text you with a drink in my hand,” Gaga notes at one point. The structure’s quite exciting: quiet harpy intro / “kinda busy, k-kinda busy” bridge as beat kicks in / verse / chorus (”stop calling, stop calling, I don’t wanna talk any more”) / postchorus bit / ‘The Way I Are’-style rap / Beyonce rap (”should have left my phone at home cos this is a disaster”) / breakdown verse / “kinda busy” bridge / chorus / another bit / ‘The Way I Are’ rap bit / extra ‘My Humps’-esque (but not really) “my telephone! My telephone!” outro, then “we’re sorry, the number you have reached is not in service” operator message. We love Beyonce insisting that some bellend on the other end of the phone won’t make her get her coat any faster.

Bonus fact: The guest vocalist on this was going to be someone else, but then the guest vocalist wanted to put the song on her own greatest hits album, so Lady Gaga made alternative arrangements.
Verdict: 7/8

Hype Williams Confirms GaGa’s Appearance on VP

Celebrities, Music Videos, Singles

On Thursday (October 15), a spokesperson for director Hype Williams confirmed to MTV News that that both Beyoncé and Gaga appear in the “Video Phone” clip, which Williams shot last weekend in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint neighborhood.

Williams’ spokesperson would not confirm any additional information about the “Video Phone” shoot, but, according to Life and Style magazine, security on set was extremely tight, and the video is shaping up to be a fashion bonanza, with Beyoncé wearing “a feathered dress” and Gaga sporting “something wild … the fashion is sick and insane.”

Mirroring the Life and Style report, another source posted on Pulse Music Board that the “Video Phone” clip was shot on a “closed set [with] no cameras or video phones” allowed. Apparently, the video version of the song — which is from Beyoncé’s 2008 I Am … Sasha Fierce album — features B and Gaga trading up-tempo verses, and sees Gaga adding an extra verse to the tune. The clip also features “lots of choreography” and “more dancers than the two girls [Beyoncé is] always with.”

Beyonce and Lady GaGa Team Up for ‘Video Phone’

October 14

It has just been confirmed that Beyonce and Lady Gaga will join forces for Beyonce’s video for her song “Video Phone.”
Seems like since Lady Gaga won’t be touring with Kanye West this year she will settle for the next best thing, which is an appearance in Beyonce’s video.
The combination of these two powerhouses will serve to benefit them both. Beyonce is currently R&B’s top artist and Lady Gaga has the genre of Pop tucked securely under her wings. An appearance in Beyonce’s video will also serve to help in the promotion of Gaga’s solo tour.
According to Life & Style, Beyonce and Lady Gaga were working on a video at a studio in NYC on October 7th; the video was reportedly for Beyonce’s song “Video Phone.”
An insider revealed that the two songstresses’ will show off their unique styles in the video with Beyonce wearing a feathered dress and Lady Gaga adorning something wild and crazy.
As mentioned, Lady Gaga is set to embark on her tour solo after she and Kanye decided to cancel their “Fame Kills” tour so the rapper could “take time off.”
Details on when Beyonce’s video for “Video Phone” will air have not yet been announced.

Taylor Swift Thanks “Gracious” Beyoncé

September 14

Since Kanye West got to do most of the talking during Taylor Swift’s aborted acceptance speech for Best Female Video, the country darling popped into the press room at the end of the night to talk about her eventful evening at MTV’s Video Music Awards.

Her first reaction to seeing West join her onstage at Radio City Music Hall? “I was really excited, because I had just won the award. And then I was really excited because Kanye West was onstage,” she said. “And then I wasn’t so excited anymore after that.”

Though she admits she was a fan of West’s music in the past, Swift said she had never met the MC before, “and I don’t want to start anything because I had a great night tonight.” Contrary to what West wrote on his blog, sources tell Rolling Stone he has yet to apologize to Swift and her mother.

Who Will Be the Queen of the VMAs?

September 13

It’s on at the Video Music Awards this year, as two of pop’s predominate ladies will go head to head for Moonmen. Beyoncé and Lady Gaga are in an epic war for VMA supremacy, with each nominated in nine categories. But at the end of the night, only one can come out on top.

So we took it to the streets to find out who the other nominees and some of the music industry’s finest think should win more prizes when the show goes live from Radio City Music Hall.

VMA house-band MC Wale thinks experience will give Beyoncé an edge over Gaga. “I think the queen might get her this time,” he said. “[Gaga's] a newbie still.” Colbie Caillat is also cheering B on come VMA night. “I think that Beyoncé is just an amazing artist,” she said.

Aubrey O’Day placed her bets on the Queen B. “My preference is Beyoncé,” the former Danity Kane singer said. Miley Cyrus couldn’t help but agree. “Beyoncé is just, like, a living legend,” the 16-year-old said about why B should beat pop’s new princess, Gaga. “So, that’s why I feel like everything she is up for, she so deserves it.”

Lady GaGa ‘Delighted’ to Compete Against Bee

August 11

Lady Gaga isn’t afraid to go head-to-head with Beyoncé at this year’s Video Music Awards. In fact, the singer can’t wait to see what happens when she and B compete against one another for the coveted Moonmen in September.

“So excited! I can’t believe it,” the nine-time nominee told reporters in Seoul, South Korea, where she was in town for her Fame Ball tour. “I’m delighted to be in Beyoncé’s company, and I can’t wait to go to the awards show and hopefully kick some ass.

Why Kelly Clarkson’s Song Sounds Like “Halo”

July 25
Celebrities, News Articles

If you’ve been listening to the radio lately, it’s possible you’ve heard the soaring strains of Already Gone, the newest single off All I Ever Wanted. It’s very likely that you thought you’d heard the epic song before, albeit in a slightly different form. Kelly Clarkson collaborated with Ryan Tedder on the track, a dramatic ballad driven by a pounding heartbeat, twinkly piano and swooping strings. Unbeknownst to Clarkson, Tedder used suspiciously similar elements when he produced another recent mega-hit, Beyonce’s Halo.

“Ryan and I met each other at the record label, before he was working with anyone else,” Clarkson begins, gritting her teeth. “He’s from Oklahoma, I’m from Texas; we got along really well and had some of the same influences. We wrote about six songs together, four or five of them made the album. It was all fine and dandy. I’d never heard of a song called Halo. Her album came out when my album was already being printed. No-one’s gonna be sittin’ at home, thinking ‘Man, Ryan Tedder gave Beyonce and Kelly the same track to write to.’ No, they’re just gonna be saying I ripped someone off. I called Ryan and said, ‘I don’t understand. Why would you do that?’”

The palpably frustrated Clarkson claims she “fought and fought” to try and prevent her label from releasing Already Gone as her third single, out of respect for Beyonce.

“In the end, they’re releasing it without my consent,” she sighs. “It sucks, but it’s one of those things I have no control over. I already made my album. At this point, the record company can do whatever they want with it. It’s kind of a shitty situation, but.… You know, you learn.”

Kanye West: Beyonce is the New Tina Turner

May 24
Celebrities, News Articles

Rapper Kanye West has a list of legends-in-the-making – hailing Jay-Z the new Frank Sinatra and Justin Timberlake as the next Michael Jackson.

The hip-hop star insists the current crop of emerging musicians are brimming with talent, and is adamant Lady Gaga will be this century’s Madonna, while pal Jay-Z’s wife Beyonce Knowles is a modern-day Tina Turner.

In a posting on his blog, West writes: “I look at our current superstars like legends in the making. Like Justin is the new Mike, Beyonce’s the new Tina Turner, Gaga’s the new Madonna, Jay is Sinatra. (Lil) Wayne is (Jimi) Hendrix, Thom Yorke is (Pink Floyd rocker) Roger Waters.

“These are the champions and should be documented as such.”
