Former Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland couldn’t help but be proud of the way her former bandmate handled herself on Sunday night at the VMAs. Rowland thinks that it was really “classy” of Beyoncé to invite Taylor Swift onstage with her while accepting her Video of the Year Mooman, after Kanye West interrupted Swift’s speech for Best Female Video.
“Beyoncé is such a classy, gracious woman,” Rowland told UsMagazine.com. “I actually tweeted that, and everybody was like, ‘It’s so true.’ ”
Rowland went on to say that she though that West’s outburst about Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies” video deserving the award more than Swift’s was “disturbing.” “I think that as … a fellow artist, it’s important to know that there is room for everybody,” she added. “Kanye is a genius. No one takes that away from him, but [he should] be moral and be a [good] person.”
Beyoncé’s dad and manager, Matthew Knowles, also spoke about his daughter’s actions at the show. “It wasn’t my decision to bring Taylor out,” he told UsMagazine.com. “It was all Beyoncé’s decision. I want to be clear about that. My job is to execute and come up with some ideas, but ultimately, that was Beyoncé’s decision. I can only say it was a proud night for me as a manager, but more importantly as a father.”
After the show on Sunday, Swift spoke to MTV News about how she felt when West first jumped onstage. Initially, she was “excited” to see him up there with her, she said, but that feeling soon faded. She was grateful to Beyoncé for allowing her another chance to accept her award.
“It was just so wonderful and so incredibly classy of her and just gracious and wonderful to let me say something,” Swift said. “She’s just been my hero and one of my idols ever since I was little. She’s a great person.”
For his part, West has now apologized for his actions twice on his blog and a third time on Monday night’s “The Jay Leno Show.”

Beyonce has landed a multi-million dollar deal with fragrance house Coty to launch her own perfume.
The singing superstar is already the face of Emporio Armani’s Diamonds perfume and previously fronted the promotional campaign for a range of True Star fragrances for Tommy Hilfiger.
But the Crazy In Love hitmaker is now branching out with her own signature scent so fans can smell just like her.
She tells WWD.com, “For me, fragrance reflects a woman’s attitude and unique sense of style.
“While I love various perfumes, I haven’t found a scent that truly personifies me as a woman. Working with Coty, I was able to turn my ideal fragrance into a reality by creating an alluring and sophisticated fragrance; one that’s reflective of my inner power.”
The exact value of the deal has not been made public, but experts predict Beyonce could net as much as $20 million over the next three years.
The as-yet-unnamed fragrance will hit stores in spring 2010.

Since Kanye West got to do most of the talking during Taylor Swift’s aborted acceptance speech for Best Female Video, the country darling popped into the press room at the end of the night to talk about her eventful evening at MTV’s Video Music Awards.
Her first reaction to seeing West join her onstage at Radio City Music Hall? “I was really excited, because I had just won the award. And then I was really excited because Kanye West was onstage,” she said. “And then I wasn’t so excited anymore after that.”
Though she admits she was a fan of West’s music in the past, Swift said she had never met the MC before, “and I don’t want to start anything because I had a great night tonight.” Contrary to what West wrote on his blog, sources tell Rolling Stone he has yet to apologize to Swift and her mother.
