Beyoncé and Solange’s Holiday Benefit Concert
Houston’s most famous siblings — Beyoncé and Solange Knowles — are combining their talents for hometown holiday cheer. The Knowles sisters will share the stage during Hope for the Holidays, a Dec. 9 concert at the House of Blues. The concert will benefit the Gulf Coast Ike Relief Fund to aid Texas victims of Hurricane Ike through the Survivor Foundation.
A one-hour concert is also being taped to premiere at 9 p.m. Dec. 21 on music channel Fuse.
“It is an honor for our family to be able to give back to our hometown with a holiday concert,” father and manager Mathew Knowles said in a statement. “Tina (Knowles) grew up in Galveston and still has family and friends there.”
Ticket details are being finalized and should be available in the next few days.
Both singers are enjoying recent creative successes. Beyoncé’s third solo disc, I Am . . . Sasha Fierce, showcases two sides of her musical persona. The double disc debuted this week atop the Billboard 200 with sales of 482,000 copies. She also stars as Etta James in the upcoming film Cadillac Records.
Solange’s album Sol-Angel & the Hadley St. Dreams was released in August, a quirky mix of classic R&B, electronic music and pop.
